Job summary

Altus Technology Solutions LLC seeks a Range Safety Inspector to support range operations at MAFR. The RSI ensures safe and compliant execution of training, coordinates with range users, and serves as a key link between operational units and Range Control leadership.

Ideal candidates understand weapons systems and safety protocols, and can contribute to mission success in high-tempo environments with overtime and occasional emergencies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of military range operations, weapons systems, and training safety requirements.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to perform duties in a high-tempo, safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site RSI from 30 minutes before range opening to range closing per normal operations hours.
• Support occasional overtime, after-hours operations (AOH), and no-notice emergency requirements.
• Submit a monthly RSI duty schedule to the COR at least 10 business days prior to the start of the month.
• Act as an adjunct to the Range Officer (RO), ensuring mission success under RO direction.
• Verify that all range activities are conducted by authorized personnel/organizations.
• Enforce compliance with all safety instructions, including weapons/ammunition inspections, troop certifications, and training event parameters.
• Oversee safe integration of air and ground training within MAFR restricted areas and boundaries.
• Inspect MOUT and other training sites to ensure they meet Range Management Office (RMO) standards and expectations for training purposes.
• Serve as liaison between range users and Range Control leadership for operational issues, maintenance integration, and range tours.
• Document and manage turnover of training areas and ranges, including pre- and post-event inspections.
• Provide safety expertise on direct-fire munitions, bombs, small arms, launchers, anti-tank weapons, mortars, mines, and air-to-ground gunnery.
• Assist in emergency situations by directing response vehicles, escorting agencies, or performing other duties as needed.
• Operate government-provided vehicle for RSI duties.

• Experience enforcing weapons safety compliance for multiple weapons systems.
