Job Title: Produce Manager

Job Summary:

The Produce Manager oversees the entire produce department, ensuring product quality, excellent customer service, and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage all aspects of the produce department, including scheduling, training, ordering, and logging.
  • Verify vendor invoices for quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain inventory to ensure freshness, quality, and optimal turnover.
  • Handle damaged products appropriately.
  • Implement merchandising plans to maximize sales and meet customer demand.
  • Ensure produce is well-stocked, faced, and attractively presented.
  • Regularly inspect produce for freshness and quality, culling as needed.
  • Follow sanitation and safety standards, maintaining logs.
  • Report maintenance or equipment issues to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of produce management and sales strategies.
  • Familiarity with retail stocking and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and training skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory and sales management.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective communication.
  • Ability to develop strategies, motivate teams, and handle operational issues.
  • Attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as stocking, lifting, and standing for long periods.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions and handle small objects.
  • Maintain communication and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Conditions:
  • Varying hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Indoor, climate-controlled environment with potential damp or slippery floors.
  • Work within various store sections including sales floor, backrooms, and refrigerated areas.
