Overview

The Ranch Hand - General Laborer performs manual labor tasks associated with various aspects of the construction site. Responsible for producing high-quality work safely and efficiently, providing feedback to ensure the availability of materials, tools, equipment, and information. Looks for opportunities to improve tasks, means, and methods, and is willing to learn from others. Must understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform general clean-up
• Dig footings with hand tools
• Backfilling
• Load and unload materials
• Strip concrete forms
• Operate power tools such as vibrators, compactors, jackhammers, or chipping guns
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces for excavations, clean rubble and debris
• Perform physical tasks requiring minimal skill and/or experience
• Assist other craft workers as needed
• Maintain roads, ditches, pipes, and pumps
• Apply fertilizer or pesticide solutions
• Choose and purchase supplies like seed, deer corn, and machinery parts
• Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair farm equipment
• Perform landscape maintenance such as mowing, edging, and weed control
• Clean and maintain ranch buildings and facilities
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs within the camp house
• Conduct cleaning and housekeeping tasks
• Knowledge of farm and ranch equipment care and safety
• Knowledge of carpentry and repair
• Operate chainsaws and pole saws
• Operate and maintain equipment like tractors, planters, hay rakes, balers, shredders, sprayers, skid steers, track loaders, and dump trucks
• Build and repair fences, including gates and welding
• Maintain ranch properties and facilities
• Assist with field dressing and disposal after hunts
• Perform miscellaneous handyman jobs
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Physical

• Ability to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Repetitive use of hands/arms and legs
• Good hand/eye coordination
• Effective communication skills (hear, comprehend, speak)
• Ability to perform sedentary to heavy work
• Operate hand and power tools with proper training and authorization
• Climb and maintain balance on various structures
• Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry objects frequently
• Prolonged bending, twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching, squatting, pushing/pulling, standing, and lifting
• Walk on uneven and challenging surfaces
• Work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions
• Potential requirement to wear a respirator
