Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience handling horses and cattle; able to identify sickness or lameness.
• Must lift up to 100 lbs.
• Framing knowledge or roping ability a plus.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintenance of equipment, fences, ditches, headgates and pipes.
• Crop management and irrigation supervision for hay crops.
• Operate haying equipment and move irrigation pipes and guns; ensure pastures are watered.
• Daily feeding of livestock and care of chickens.
• Snow plowing, mowing, weed eating as directed.
• Calving support including feeding, tagging, vaccinations; basic vet care as needed.
• Daily kennel cleaning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SL Ranch in Stevensville is seeking a full time ranch hand to perform a variety of duties related to the production of hay and cattle. NO HOUSING PROVIDED!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Repairs and maintenance of equipment, fences, ditches, headgates and pipes.
• Crop Management - identify irrigation needs for hay crops. Notify supervisor when hay is ready for harvest
• Operate haying equipment, move and set irrigation pipes and guns. Identify and insure all pastures are sufficiently watered
• Daily feeding of livestock
• Care of chickens
• Snow plowing, mowing, weed eating as necessary and directed
• Calving-feeding, tagging, vaccinations, general doctoring as needed
• Daily cleaning of dog kennels
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills Required:

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Must be proficient in the safe operation of all equipment...haying, loaders, tractors, 4 wheeler, vehicles, power tools, chainsaw, etc

Most duties are performed outdoors and entail exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions

Summer irrigation schedule is Mon-Sat and calving schedule is 7 days a week
