Job summary

Golden Route Operations, LLC in Longmont, CO is seeking a dependable Ranch Hand to join a small team caring for horses and maintaining the Meadowlark properties. This full-time, non-exempt position requires readiness to perform a wide range of tasks—from daily chores and event setup to fence work and property maintenance—with a focus on safety, teamwork, and clear communication.

Horse experience is not required, but helpful; candidates must be able to lift 75 pounds and work at both properties

Responsibilities

• Be an extra pair of eyes on the ranch and take care of anything that should be addressed.
• Clean up after yourself when a job is completed.
• Return tools to original or correct location.
• Report to your supervisor if something has broken or malfunctioned during a task.
• Rake up any excess debris from cutting grass or weed whacking.
• Make sure sidewalks and driveways are cleared of dirt and weeds.
• weed whacking / pulling weeds , mowing lawns, watering trees, plants, flowers
• Scooping manure, re-bedding horse stalls , loading and unloading hay
• Sweeping, raking, cleaning up inside barns or around outside pens
• Digging holes for construction or landscaping
• Remove trash or debris from property
• Shoveling snow, throwing salt down, breaking ice up
• Removing hazardous weeds or flowers from animal areas
• Cleaning up around trees, picking up sticks and leaves
• Sweeping
• Moving panels to assemble for round pens
• Dragging arenas
• Removing rocks- large and small- by hand and relocating them to a designated area
• Fixing fences or gates
• Measuring distances and calculating distances of posts
• Building fences, setting posts ,
• Erecting electric fences
• Painting sheds, fences, roofs, walls
• Building basic structures
• Dig ging trenches to drain water from pooling locations
• Fix and/or clean horse auto waters
• Sanding fences or structures
• Lay or spread squeegee where necessary
• Using saws to cut wood
• Be able to be fully functional at both properties . If not confident in a task or project, you must follow up with your supervisor in a timely manner to ensure that the task or project stays on track
• Be able to lift 75 pounds easily
• Help to maintain systems put in place to keep everyone organized and on the same page
• Perform o ther duties as assigned to the best of your ability and with a positive attitude

Description

Job Purpose:

To work as a team to provide high-quality care for the horses and the surrounding propert ies at Meadowlark and Meadowlark T OO . Maintain the grounds, the horse facilities, and all shared workspaces to the highest standards. Work, above all, as a TEAM with other employees and fill in anywhere that is needed.

Horse experience is not a must, but it is a bonus. Horse duties and responsibilities will be considered and assigned to a specific hire on a case-by-case basis.

Any tasks that you are assigned to that are out of your scope must be communicated to your supervisor. It will then be discussed how best to proceed. You will either be instructed and supported on said project or be assigned to something else. I t is the employee's responsibility to communicate his or her needs in real time.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Help to ensure a peaceful and open channel of communication between both Meadowlark locations.
• Report any issues, concerns or questions to your direct supervisor and do not engage in unproductive or harmful gossip
• When asked to, be willing to work in other departments on the ranch where extra staff are needed . This can include but is not limited to :
  • Setting up for a wedding
  • Cleaning out a storage container of owner’s personal items
  • Moving furniture within the structures on property
  • Hanging hardware inside the structures on property
  • Washing ranch or personal vehicles
  • Setting up/ breaking down tents for events
  • Hang ing Christmas lights
  • Building a fire
  • Building a dance floor
• Communicate personal needs to your direct supervisor in a timely manner, so that any issues or conflicts may be addressed as soon as possible
• Collaborate with the team to complete daily chores and other projects that may arise, while taking direction from the leadership team

Basic Expectations and Expected Tasks:

ONLY Engage in following tasks if directly assigned to you by the Leadership Team:

• Provide care for Shires, Percherons , and light horses
• Assisting the show team in any way
• Apply medications as needed
• Trimming trees, using the stump grinder
• Operating any farm equipment
• Fixing or hauling a horse or dump trailer

Other Stipulations Upon Employment:

• Treat all staff members, vendors, and day labor with the utmost respect
• Be able to work both AM and PM shifts based on scheduling and availability
• Requests off for ANY REASON must be submitted according to company policy and will be honored on a case-by-case basis
