Job summary

PrimeFlight Aviation Services is seeking a Ramp Manager to oversee airport ramp operations in Jacksonville, FL. You will lead ramp supervisors and staff, allocate resources, and ensure safe, timely aircraft turnarounds while coordinating with airline partners and air traffic control.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive ramp/ground handling experience, and a thorough understanding of DOT/FAA safety standards. Flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays are expected.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Minimum 5 years in ramp operations/ground handling, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to use IPads/Tablets, Computers and mobile devices.
  • Able to pass background check and drug screen.
  • Eligible for required credentials (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, etc.).
  • Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee ramp operations ensuring DOT compliance
  • Coordinate ramp staff activities: scheduling, training, supervision
  • Implement safety and operational policies per DOT and FAA guidelines
  • Inspect ramp equipment and vehicles for DOT compliance
  • Coordinate with airline partners and ground handling agents
  • Develop and enforce procedures for aircraft loading and unloading
  • Monitor ramp activities for safe cargo/baggage handling
  • Address and resolve ramp operational issues and incidents
  • Maintain records and documentation per DOT regulations
  • Provide leadership and guidance on DOT safety practices
  • Liaise with airport authorities and regulators on compliance
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of ramp equipment to meet DOT standards
  • Develop training programs on DOT regulations
  • Prepare reports on ramp operations and DOT compliance
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives for ramp safety/efficiency
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Job description

The Ramp Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations on the airport ramp, ensuring efficient, safe, and timely handling of aircraft and ground services. This position involves directing ramp supervisors and staff, managing the allocation of resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. You are also responsible for coordinating with airline representatives, air traffic control, and ground services to facilitate smooth aircraft turnarounds. Additionally, this role requires strategic planning and problem-solving skills to optimize ramp operations and respond effectively to any operational challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee ramp operations ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Manage and coordinate ramp staff activities, including scheduling, training, and supervision
  • Implement safety and operational policies in line with DOT and FAA guidelines
  • Conduct regular inspections of ramp equipment and vehicles for DOT compliance
  • Coordinate with airline partners and ground handling agents for efficient ramp operations
  • Develop and enforce procedures for aircraft loading and unloading
  • Monitor ramp activities to ensure safe handling of cargo and baggage

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ramp operations or ground handling, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • In-depth knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable).
  • Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
