Job summary

Northern Air Cargo in Anchorage, Alaska is hiring a Cargo & Ramp Service Agent to support freight operations on the flight line. You will greet customers, offload air freight with ground equipment, and help load cargo into aircraft.

This full-time, onsite role offers benefits from day one. Candidates must be 18+, have a valid Alaska driver’s license, pass a drug screen and background check, and be able to work outdoors in winter conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Alaska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, 10-year background check, and obtain an airport SIDA badge.
• Comfort working outdoors on the ramp in sub-zero winter conditions and lifting/moving up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible schedule shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as flight schedules require.
• Strong team mindset, clear communication skills, and focus on safety.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with offloading air freight using material handling equipment, electric pallet jacks, and forklifts.
• Process shipping documentation, weigh and label cargo, verify receiving documents, and perform security inspections (including Dangerous Goods processing).
• Consolidate, stage, build up, and tie down cargo into Unit Load Devices (ULDs).
• Load and offload inbound and outbound air cargo from aircraft using specialized ground equipment (K-loaders, belt loaders, tugs, forklifts, and carts).
• Safely convey cargo between airport facilities and transport mail to/from the Airport Mail Facility.
• Identify and report safety risks, maintaining high security and safety standards in compliance with FAA and NAC guidelines.
