Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies, LLC is seeking a Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) Engineer to support a multinational SATCOM program. The RAM Engineer will develop, analyze, validate, and maintain RAM/maintainability models through the product lifecycle with teams across engineering, logistics, and QA.

Responsibilities include RAM analyses, FMECA, RBDs, LORA, maintenance analyses, and IPSP/ISSP support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Reliability/ Maintainability/ Supportability or Systems Engineering.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, SATCOM or military systems.
• Experience delivering customer-facing reports and lifecycle documentation.

Title: Reliability, Availability & Maintainability Engineer (Remote) Location: This position is open to candidates residing in locations where Fairwinds Technologies is currently registered to employ. Current eligible locations include the DMV area, FL, GA, SC, NC, NY, CO, and TX. Eligible locations are subject to change based on business needs and employment registration requirements. Position Summary

The Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) Engineer supports a multinational SATCOM program focused on delivering, sustaining, and modernizing deployable multi-band SATCOM fly-away terminals. The RAM Engineer is responsible for developing, analyzing, validating, and maintaining system reliability, maintainability, availability, and supportability models throughout the product lifecycle. This role works closely with Systems Engineering, Integrated Product Support (IPS), Logistics, Configuration Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and In-Service Support teams to ensure system performance and sustainment objectives are achieved. Responsibilities include RAMT analyses, FMECA studies, Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), maintenance analyses, provisioning support, lifecycle sustainment planning, and performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reliability programs supporting SATCOM systems through design, production, deployment, and sustainment phases.
• Perform reliability predictions using MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-STD-756, IEC 61078, Telcordia SR-332, HDBK-217Plus, and ANSI VITA 51 methodologies.
• Analyze hardware, firmware, and software reliability to the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level.
• Develop and maintain Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) and evaluate system reliability performance.
• Perform Maintainability Analyses, including MTTR, MTTRS, TTR, and MTBPM assessments.
• Conduct Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) in accordance with MIL-STD-1629A and IEC 60812.
• Support Built-In Test (BIT) strategies and testability assessments, including fault detection and fault isolation analyses.
• Develop availability models and readiness assessments to support sustainment planning.
• Perform Operation and Maintenance Task Analyses (O&MTA) and define maintenance requirements.
• Conduct Level of Repair Analyses (LORA) to determine cost-effective maintenance and repair strategies.
• Support development of Integrated Product Support Plans (IPSP), In-Service Support Plans (ISSP), Product Support Data Packages (PSDP), and Initial Provisioning Lists (IPL).
• Participate in DRACAS activities, analyze failure data, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain Product Support Database (PSDB) inputs and supporting technical documentation.
• Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, acceptance reviews, audits, and sustainment reviews.
• Present RAM analyses and recommendations to customers, program leadership, and engineering stakeholders.

Required Qualifications Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintainability Engineering, Supportability Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, telecommunications, SATCOM, military systems, or related technical programs.
• Demonstrated experience performing:
