Job summary

Ralph Lauren Corporation seeks an energetic interior design assistant to support the store decorative elements process within the Architecture and Design Studio in New York, NY. You will help source items, visit showrooms, coordinate fabrication, track items from purchase to delivery, and assist with installation and space planning, ensuring budgets and schedules are adhered to.

Ideal candidates have 1-3 years in interior design, are highly organized, and can read drawings.

Qualifications

  • Education/Degree in interior design or related field is required.
  • 1-3 years' experience in interior design and/or store development preferred in retail or high-end residential.
  • Highly organized and proactive, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read architectural/construction drawings and space plans.

Responsibilities

  • Supports sourcing and selection of decorative items.
  • Visit showrooms to find samples for projects.
  • Visit vendors to monitor furniture fabrication/refurbishment progress.
  • Track decorative items from purchase through delivery.
  • Support inspiration boards illustrating design concepts.
  • Partner with architects and Interior Design Manager on store layouts.
  • Archive decorative materials and maintain project records/specs.
  • Support new store decorative installations and renovations.
  • Maintain project interior design budgets.

Position Overview

Supports the selection, coordination, purchasing and installation of store decorative elements for Ralph Lauren Architecture and Design Studio

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supports sourcing and selection of decorative items
  • Visit showrooms to find appropriate samples for projects
  • Visit vendors to monitor progress on furniture fabrication and/or antique refurbishment
  • Track decorative items from point of purchase through delivery
  • Support and assists with inspiration boards that illustrate design concepts
  • Partner with architects and Interior Design Manager on store layouts
  • Archive decorative materials and maintain project records/specs
  • Support and assist with new store decorative installations and renovations
  • Maintain project interior design budgets
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
  • Education/Degree in interior design or related field
  • Preferred 1-3 years' experience in interior design and/or store development, preferably in retail industry or high-end residential
  • Highly organized and proactive individual, capable of multi-tasking within a fast-paced environment
  • Able to read and understand architectural/construction drawings and sketch/diagram space plans and fixture layouts
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • AutoCAD and/or SketchUp proficiency a plus
  • Ability to source and select decorative items
  • Budget tracking and project management skills
