Work at Home Bilingual Rakhine - English Phone Interpreter

Job Title: Rakhine Interpreter

Location: Work at Home position in the United States

Pay: $1.25 - $1.40 per minute. Rates depend on the time of day or night and the interpretation level as defined by LanguageLine Solutions.

Position Overview:

The Rakhine Telephone Interpreter handles on-demand calls, rendering the meaning of conversations between Rakhine and English speakers. The role involves breaking communication barriers across industries such as Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911.

The interpreter must process information quickly and accurately, recognizing cultural differences. Professionalism, courtesy, appropriate terminology, and understanding industry procedures are essential. Sessions may involve simple or complex topics.

This role involves verbal interpretation only; written translation is not included, although translators and linguists are encouraged to apply. It is a remote position requiring a quiet, secure environment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Respond promptly and professionally to interpreting sessions.
  • Render accurate concepts and meanings, following interpretation protocols.
  • Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and politeness.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure, especially in emergency or emotional situations.
  • Be punctual and available during work hours.
  • Follow client instructions and protocols, avoiding unauthorized interactions with LEP individuals.
  • Understand industry-specific terminology and protocols.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Handle high-stress calls and high call volumes effectively.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in Rakhine and English and understanding of cultural dynamics.
  • Ability to assess regional and accent differences.
  • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to stay neutral and objective, handling sensitive topics with professionalism.
  • Experience in language-related fields is preferred.
  • Adaptability to technological updates.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write in requested languages is highly preferred.

Additional Requirements: A post-offer background check and/or drug screen may be required, depending on location.

Technical Requirements:
  • Dedicated device (computer, tablet, or smartphone).
  • High-speed internet (minimum speeds specified).
  • Quiet workspace free from background noise.
Physical Requirements:
  • Operate keyboard/mouse and remain stationary for long periods.
  • Manual dexterity for typing/writing.
  • Ability to lift up to 26 lbs.
