Are you passionate about early literacy? Do you believe in the importance of family engagement around books? Reading Ready Pittsburgh invites you to join our team as a Raising a Reader Program Coordinator — and help ignite a lifelong love of reading in the hearts of young children.

At Reading Ready Pittsburgh, we work to ensure every child has access to high quality books and encourage participation in shared reading with their families. Serving the Mon Valley and surrounding communities, we partner with families, schools, and community organizations to make literacy a priority for families and children .

As our Raising a Reader Program Coordinator, you will manage the Raising A Reader book bag rotation program in childcare centers, home visiting programs and local elementary schools. You’ll design professional development opportunities for educators, create program resources, recruit new partners and volunteers, and build strong relationships throughout the community.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education, or a related field — or equivalent experience
  • Warmth, creativity, and enthusiasm.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort working with young children and families
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media
  • A reliable vehicle and the ability to lift boxes of books (up to 30 lbs)
