Job summary

JennMar Services in Akron, OH is seeking a hands-on laborer to support a rail yard crew with physically demanding tasks. The role focuses on manual labor, including shoveling, sweeping, handling materials, and using hand tools; some heavy equipment operation may occur, with training provided.

Travel to multiple locations such as Kent, Copley, Twinsburg, Alliance, Cleveland and Medina is required. Shifts include Day/Afternoon/Midnight, plus weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in rail or aggregate environments is a plus, but not required.
• Training will be provided.
• Must be willing to travel to multiple locations including Kent, Copley, Twinsburg, Alliance, Cleveland and Medina.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Unloading product from railcars at various company facilities.
• Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
• Other miscellaneous duties include general labor, shoveling, performing necessary equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and crew as needed.
• May perform welding and fabrication duties as required.
• Day to day work may include safe operation of heavy equipment including Frontend Loader and skid steer loader.
• Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
• Ability to follow directions.
• General understanding of OSHA & MSHA regulations.

Job description

Position Overview:

This is a hands-on laborer role supporting a rail yard crew with a variety of physically demanding tasks. Duties include shoveling, sweeping, handling materials, using hand tools, and assisting with general site upkeep. While some operation of heavy equipment may be involved, the primary focus is manual labor. Prior experience in rail or aggregate environments is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Unloading product from railcars at various company facilities.
• Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
• Other miscellaneous duties include but not limited to: general labor, shoveling, performing necessary equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and/ or crew members as needed.

• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and a background check

Schedule:

• Must be available for Day/Afternoon/Midnight shifts
• Weekends as needed

Compensation:

• $23/hr+
• $25/day travel reimbursement
