Job summary

Mesabi Metallics is seeking an experienced Logistics Expert – Railway Systems to support development, implementation, and operation of the Company’s rail transportation infrastructure. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this role serves as the technical SME for railway system design, permitting, construction support, and operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transportation, Logistics, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in railway systems or large capital projects.
• Experience with Class I railroads and regulatory agencies.
• Knowledge of railroad regulations, safety standards, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for railway system design, permitting, and operation.
• Support engineering and EPC teams with rail infrastructure planning (tracks, yards, loading facilities).
• Coordinate permitting activities and regulatory requirements for railway infrastructure.
• Develop operational strategies for rail transportation (capacity planning, scheduling, train movements).
• Establish and maintain relationships with Class I railroads and contractors.
