Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Gainesville, FL to supervise railroad safety and compliance on rights-of-way. The CIC will oversee construction, maintenance, and safety for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail partners.

The role requires coordinating with train dispatchers and engineers, conducting job briefings, and ensuring FRA compliance (49 CFR 214). Travel is extensive and benefits include health and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' railroad experience preferred in maintenance of way or TY&E

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) during track work.
• Monitor track conditions, approach trains, and coordinate with dispatchers.
• Document all activities including job briefings, incident reports, and logs.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
