Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York seeks a trainee Engineer Systems Operator to learn and support power distribution, MW operations, and related systems. The program trains you to work safely across power, communications, track, and structures, ensuring around‑the‑clock coverage for emergencies.

You will assist in maintaining records, coordinating call-outs, and providing daily management reports as you progress through the training program toward independent operation.

Formación

• Minimum five years electrical/LIRR Power dept experience or two years in traction power/utility fields.
• Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering/related field with two years experience or Bachelor's degree with related knowledge.
• Ability to learn Substation Equipment, Third Rail equipment, High Tension and EL&P facilities, and Track/Structures knowledge.
• Ability to read third rail drawings, track charts, signal and speed control diagrams.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in managing engineering decisions concerning the distribution of power across the LIRR network.
• Coordinate and dispatch crews for off-hour emergencies and repairs across Track, Structures and Power.
• Develop and maintain a computer database for failure reports, daily production, and trouble calls.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports, and provide daily documentation to management.
• Coordinate programmed power outages with movement bureaus and engineering disciplines.
• Monitor weather data and CCTV to support operational decisions during emergencies.
