Job summary

Loram is seeking a Machine Operator 1 to operate, maintain and repair railway maintenance equipment in field settings. The role requires following safety procedures, conducting inspections, and maintaining detailed reports while traveling as needed.

Candidates should have 2+ years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic experience and relevant certifications; a valid driver’s license is required. Expect 100% travel and comprehensive benefits, with starting pay between $20.00 and $21.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Internal: 3+ months Loram equipment experience in a 24/7 environment; some excavator experience.
• External: 2+ years demonstrated mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and machine operation skills.
• Licenses/Certifications: Railroad Certifications, CPR/First Aid, valid Driver’s License.
• Aurora: 1 year computer/technology background; 1 year MS Windows; CDL Class B preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive job briefings during operation shifts, maintenance shifts and during maintenance tasks.
• Follow safe work processes, procedures and rules at all times.
• Understand on-track safety and explain specifics when asked.
• Locate emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation.
• Conduct machine inspections and identify problems, reporting to supervisor for maintenance decisions.
• Accurately record and report parts used to supervisor; track floor stock.
• Perform maintenance and repairs per schedules and policies.
• Describe gauge and HMI functions as they relate to machine operation.
• Document and complete daily field reporting, expense reporting, lodging, and other reporting as necessary.
