Job summary

Plasser American Corporation in New Milford, Connecticut is seeking a detail‑oriented Drafting Engineer to support the design, assembly, and modification of ultrasonic rail testing equipment and related mechanical systems. You will develop accurate 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation for inspection vehicles, testing trolleys, and equipment installations.

The ideal candidate will work closely with production and field service teams to translate design concepts and field measurements

Qualifications

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent.
• Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and assembly details.
• Understanding of machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment installations.
• Develop drawings for mounting brackets, frames, enclosures, ultrasonic test carriages, and vehicle or trolley modifications.
• Prepare fabrication and assembly drawings with dimensions, tolerances, materials, and welding requirements.
• Create and maintain bills of materials, parts lists, and assembly documentation.
• Measure existing equipment and develop drawings for replacement parts or modifications.
