Job summary

CSR Engineering is seeking an experienced Railroad Construction / Track Inspector for an approximately one-year assignment in Nebraska. The role focuses on field inspections of track construction, ensuring compliance with project plans and railroad standards in an active construction environment.

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years of railroad experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently outdoors.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of railroad track construction or inspection experience.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of railroad track construction, rehabilitation, and related infrastructure work.
• Monitor contractor activities to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, and railroad standards.
• Inspect track components and construction activities, including track installation, ballast placement, grading, drainage, and related work.
• Document construction progress, inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Identify deviations from project requirements and coordinate with project management, engineering staff, and contractors to resolve issues.
• Verify that work is performed in accordance with safety requirements and quality standards.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, field notes, photographs, and other project documentation.
• Participate in construction meetings and provide updates on work progress and issues.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support schedule adherence and project delivery.
• Maintain safety and compliance with railroad operating and roadway worker protection requirements.
