Job summary

RailWorks is seeking a Thermite Welder Helper to assist the Thermite Welder in repairing railroad tracks within heavy construction environments. You will support welding operations, track measurements, and safety procedures on outdoor job sites.

The role requires working in varied weather conditions, communicating with the Thermite Welder, and following safety protocols while contributing to efficient track restoration and project timelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years Thermite Welding in a heavy railroad environment.
• Thorough knowledge of Thermite Welding processes and procedures.
• Certified by Contractor Orientation, ERail Safe and Railway Maintenance Machine Operation.
• Experience reporting daily activities to Thermite Welder.
• Experience communicating with Thermite Welder on task completion.
• Ability to assist Thermite Welder to determine cost-effective repair options.
• Ability to follow safety policies, rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Thermite Welder in rail repair and track construction tasks.
• Perform rail cutting, measuring, removal and replacement as directed.
• Support spiking, anchoring and surfacing duties on track sections.
• Monitor equipment and report any faults to supervisors.
• Operate equipment per safety policies and regulations.
