Job summary

Colonial Group is hiring a Rail Switching Technician to operate outdoors and move railcars within an industrial facility. This full-time role supports daily logistics with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience is a plus but not required. Paid on-the-job training is available.
• May require a valid Driver’s License and/or a valid TWIC card, depending on work location.
• 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
• Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Wear all required PPE without restriction and pass any required medical exams.
• Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews track lists to identify and organize railcars for spotting, separating, loading, or outbound movement.
• Ensures railcars are properly connected and secured by setting brakes and verifying couplings.
• Separates loaded cars for shipment from preloaded or empty railcars.
• Weighs inbound and outbound cars to confirm compliance with weight limits.
• Performs additional duties as needed to support safe and efficient rail operations.
