Our Railroad Signal Technician position consists of daily inspections for highway grade crossing signal systems & wayside signaling systems. The area of travel is subject to change, but regardless of the location, the work type will remain the same. All work will consist of following mandatory Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations. Ideal candidates would have experience maintaining, servicing, installing, troubleshooting signal system circuitry and components. Key traits for this position would encompass a positive attitude, ability to travel, mechanical aptitude, organization, self-starting personality.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 2-5 years Railroad Signal Maintenance

Travel: Up to 100%

Work Schedule: Schedule may vary and can include, but is not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all railroad warning systems are in compliance with min. FRA regulations.
  • Incumbent will be required to attend applicable certification training including FRA, Signal Training Solutions (STS) schooling and Drug and Alcohol and Hours of Service (FRA) trainings.
  • Comply with all applicable Railroad system training requirements
  • Take pride in craftsmanship & appearance of assigned projects or territories.
  • Act as an important segway of communication between end customer and FTI project leadership.
  • Perform testing requirements with strict expectations, utilizing various industry-standard multimeters.
  • Willingness to participate in unannounced over time (Callouts), as needed.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately manage multiple tasks of various varieties to ensure production goals are maintained.
  • Actively participates in FTI's hiring referral and mentoring program, as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
