Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge in Yakima, WA to oversee construction, maintenance and safety compliance for railroad projects. The CIC ensures work within rights-of-way is performed safely and per regulations.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, travel flexibility, and a valid driver's license. You will lead safety briefings, coordinate with rail operations, document activities, and enforce all applicable policies to

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in verbal and written formats.
• Ability for long-term travel assignments, including multi-month deployments.
• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' railroad experience (maintenance of way or TY&E).
• Completes required federal, client, and company training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging as needed.
• Lead job briefings and ensure FRA (49 CFR 214) compliance near tracks.
• Monitor track conditions and train approach to keep personnel safe.
• Coordinate train movements with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors.
• Document all activities including briefings, incident reports, logs, and forms.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
