Public Project Manager - Midwestern States

We are seeking a motivated Public Project Manager to join our Railroad team. Reporting to the Group Manager, you will oversee railroad infrastructure projects and collaborate with other project managers. This mid-level role offers growth opportunities and project management training within the railroad industry.

Our Railroad Division comprises experienced professionals, many of whom are former railroads employees, enabling us to develop innovative solutions for a variety of rail projects. If you're eager to grow your career in this field, we encourage you to apply.

Location

This role offers remote work; however, candidates should be located near Midwestern states, preferably Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, or Illinois, due to travel requirements.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Lead and supervise project staff to ensure effective performance.
  • Implement work plans in collaboration with the Group Manager.
  • Monitor budgets, scope, and schedules.
  • Develop unit costs for estimating extra work.
  • Analyze reports and provide performance updates.
  • Coordinate survey requirements.
  • Oversee daily operations and maintain records.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Conduct project meetings.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and assist with agreements.
  • Support contract negotiations and resolve conflicts.
  • Complete initiation and compliance forms.
  • Verify invoices and support contract compliance.
  • Follow up on invoice collection.
  • Ensure quality compliance.
  • Share lessons learned.
  • Perform project close-out and staff evaluations.
  • Manage onsite vehicle and equipment.
What We Are Looking For
  • High School diploma required; AAS or BS preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience across multiple states, progressing projects from preliminary engineering to construction.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering or railroad infrastructure preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Experience collaborating with local and state agencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000, based on experience and location, in accordance with Illinois law. Our comprehensive benefits include health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, disability plans, 401(k) with profit sharing, paid leave, and holidays.
