Job summary

Illinois & Midland Railroad, Inc. seeks a skilled mechanic with experience in repairing EMD diesel engines, air compressors, air brake gear, and gas engines. Welder fabrication and ability to read electrical drawings are required.

The role includes climbing, lifting heavy materials, and working at height, with cross-training as an Electrician. Two years of related experience and/or training and a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) are required along with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Repair and knowledge of EMD diesel engines, air compressors, air brake equipment, gas engines, and related mechanical equipment.
• Weld and fabricate metal using a torch and electric welding machines.
• Read electrical blueprints and drawings; understand EMD electrical systems.
• Operate machines such as a drill press and lathe.
• Cross trained as Electrician; may maintain records of repairs and inspections.
• Must be able to climb, lift heavy material, and work at high levels.
• Other duties as assigned.
