Qualifications

• Previous heavy equipment or industrial equipment operating experience
• Experience with loaders, forklifts, construction equipment, material-handling machinery, or similar equipment
• Strong understanding of safe equipment operation
• Ability to perform and document basic pre-use equipment inspections
• Experience working around moving machinery and other industrial hazards
• Ability to follow written and verbal operating instructions
• Willingness to perform physical work in addition to equipment operation
• Experience in railroad operations, construction, manufacturing, mining, industrial maintenance, material handling, or heavy equipment operations is especially relevant.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and material-handling machinery safely and efficiently
• Move, position, load, and unload materials, parts, tools, and equipment
• Complete required pre-operation equipment inspections
• Recognize and report mechanical problems, damage, leaks, or other equipment concerns
• Maneuver equipment safely around railcars, tracks, vehicles, employees, and other site hazards
• Support railroad mechanical operations based on daily workload and production needs
• Follow designated travel paths and site operating procedures
• Maintain awareness of changing conditions and surrounding personnel while equipment is in operation
• Follow equipment capacity limits and established operating requirements
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment concerns
• Assist with physical and general operational tasks when equipment operation is not required
• Follow all Road & Rail Services, customer, and railroad safety requirements
