Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is hiring a Railroad Flagger to keep workers safe on train tracks by coordinating movements and enforcing safety rules.

This full-time role in Santa Maria, CA involves substantial travel and interaction with railroads, contractors and dispatchers. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of Class 1 railroad experience, strong communication, and the ability to work long hours on-site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience with a Class 1 Railroad or equivalent.
• Experience with maintenance of way or related rail operations preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and safety focus.
• Willing to travel long periods (50–85% average).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities at the job site and communicate with dispatchers and crews.
• Lead safety briefings and enforce railroad rules and training requirements.
• Monitor and address safety and rule violations; complete daily activity reports.
• Maintain on-track safety following federal regulations.
