Position Overview

This position is responsible for building and repairing railroad tracks and other related tasks. The employee will operate various machinery including rubber-tired tractor-type vehicles with front-mounted hydraulics, forklifts, medium-duty section trucks, backhoes, skid loaders, wheel loaders, on and off-track excavators, double-axle track dump trucks, ballast regulators (set up for snow removal), tie cranes, ballast regulators, track tampers, tie inserters, spike drivers, and spike pullers.

Schedule and Compensation

The typical schedule is 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday. Pay starts at $22.35 per hour and increases depending on experience.

Requirements
  • Up to one month of related experience or training.
  • Must have a Class A CDL license.
  • Must qualify as a valid worker under FRA standards.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
  • Compliance with FRA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, and other safety and environmental regulations, including attending training sessions.
