Job description

Job Description

As an employee of DCS, you will be asked to contribute your skills and expertise to help make the environment beautiful all while upholding our company’s values, principles, and family name! Our Railroad Crossing Technicians complete basic duties, such as spraying the railroad crossings according to contract specifications, all while focusing on safety.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Fill truck with water/chemical mix.
  • Minor weed eating with an industrial weed eater and minor chainsaw work with at least a 16” bar on saw, approximately 25% of the time each day.
  • Pull hose out 300-500 feet to spray the length of crossing, and then pull hose back to the truck and roll up. In a typical day, you will pull out 300-500 feet of hose 32 times.
  • Spray 8 to 10 crossings per day.
  • Must drive truck and spray 8 to 10 railroad crossings per day.
  • Must call MTM for daily job briefing.
  • Perform paperwork required for the job at the end of the day.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License is preferred in the appropriate state categories for Vegetation Management. (Paid for by the Company.)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical, as well as a federal background check to work on railroad property.
  • Must be willing to travel a minimum of 4-6 weeks at a time. (Hotel accommodationsprovided by DCS)
  • Basic understanding of chemicals used, what they control, and all safety requirements preferred.
  • Basic understanding of application methods and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of calibration and spray patterns.

DeAngelo Contracting Services provide our employees with paid training to help them become successful in their positions. Areas of training include:

  • Learn how to identify different weeds, grass, and brush species.
  • Determine what chemicals effectively control what plant species.
  • Learn how to safely operate application equipment.
  • Different application methods utilized in the field.
  • An understanding of how to maintain equipment.

Pay rate: $19-20/hour
