Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain required licensure.
• Flexible shifts including overtime, nights, and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Follows instructions from locomotive engineer to move trains safely and on time.
• Observes and relays signals to ensure proper locomotive and car placement.
• Tends and operates track switches and inspects air brakes and couplings.
• Communicates with engineers and control centers via radio or telephone during runs.
• Inspects freight cars and equipment for safe operation.
• Maintains records and performs other duties as assigned.
