Job summary

Guardian Rail is seeking a Railcar Repair Technician 1 for its Fort Smith, AR shop. You will inspect and repair railcars to FRA and AAR standards while performing pre/post inspections and adhering to safety and quality programs.

The role is physically demanding, outdoors in diverse weather, and requires use of hand and power tools, welding equipment, and blueprints. A high school diploma or GED is required, with prior railcar experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience as Carman or Railcar Repair Technician desirable.
• Able to read safety rules, manuals, and blueprints.
• Basic mechanical knowledge with hand & power tools experience.
• Outdoor, physical, hands-on work with lifting and climbing.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR interchange rules.
• Conduct pre and post inspections of all assigned railcars.
• Follow safety protocols and quality programs.
• Keep work area clean and organized per regulations.
• Operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, and related machinery.
• Assist in disassembly and repair of railcars and tank cars as needed.
