Job summary

Progress Rail is seeking a production-oriented Railcar Repair Technician at our Bridgeport, NE facility. You will remove, fabricate, fit, assemble and weld railcar parts and structures, reading blueprints and work orders to guide repairs and modifications.

The role requires climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working with overhead cranes in a safety-conscious environment. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and a mechanical aptitude with experience reading precision instruments

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read precision instruments and gauges.
• Ability to read blueprints/technical drawings and work orders.
• Capable use of hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools and cutting torches.
• Comfort around overhead cranes and heavy equipment; ability to work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble or disassemble railcar components as needed.
• Remove, fabricate, fitment and welding of railcar parts, components, and structures.
• Repair or replace worn mechanical components according to work orders and manuals.
• Read and follow blueprints and technical drawings to guide repairs and modifications.
• Maintain safety policies and use PPE as required.
