Dixie Railcar - Compass Rail is seeking a Railcar Repair Tech to inspect freight railcars and perform minor in-service repairs. You will identify defects, perform safe repairs, and ensure FRA and AAR compliance. A valid driver’s license and ability to work with tools are required.

Full-time position with competitive hourly pay. You will document inspections, coordinate with yard personnel, and maintain a clean, safe work area while following PPE and Lockout/Tagout protocols.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in mechanical railcar repair or inspection preferred.
• Basic knowledge of FRA and AAR inspection and repair requirements.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, repair manuals, and regulatory standards.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass all required safety and regulatory training.

Mansioni

• Perform visual and manual inspections of freight railcars to detect defects, damage, or wear.
• Execute minor running repairs such as replacing brake shoes and adjusting rigging.
• Identify and document car defects according to FRA and AAR rules, and determine service status.
• Complete inspection and repair documentation and defect tags.
• Operate tools and equipment including impact wrenches, hydraulic jacks, grinders, and torches.
• Coordinate car movements with yardmasters, dispatchers, and other railroad personnel.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensure tools are in proper working condition.
• Follow all safety rules, PPE use, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
