Summary Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to apply sandblasting techniques to the exterior and interior of railcars, ensuring all company guidelines and safety rules are followed. The candidate must interpret work orders in compliance with FRA, AAR, WMS, and customer specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret work orders to perform railcar coatings
• Coordinate and complete coating tasks efficiently within scheduled hours
• Notify supervisor of materials or equipment needs
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors
• Follow all safety and environmental policies, maintain a clean work area
• Ensure all quality standards are met
• Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
• Ability to learn operational details and pass related exams
• Capability to follow procedures and maintain records as per policies
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including hot and cold weather, and around heavy equipment
• Knowledge of safety equipment and tools for railcar cleaning and maintenance
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Willingness to wear and care for PPE such as steel-toed boots, eye and hearing protection, gloves, respirators, and protective suits

Working Conditions

Employees will work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including exposure to heights with fall protection, dust, and other environmental factors. Use of PPE is required as conditions dictate.
