Job summary

Compass Minerals America Inc. in Utah seeks a Railcar Loader to move SOP, Salt and MgCl2 products, assist the Shuttle Wagon Operator, and prepare rail cars for loading and unloading in line with daily shipping needs.

You will inspect cars for cleanliness and integrity, supervise coupling/uncoupling, remove chocks, and report issues by radio. The role requires a high school diploma, experience with heavy equipment or rails, and PC skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: High school diploma; experience or education demonstrating ability to monitor equipment and maintain product quality. Heavy equipment or rail experience is a plus.
• Computer Skills: Must be PC literate and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information.
• Competency: Interpersonal skills, written communication, planning/organizing, professionalism, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Inspect rail cars for proper loading requirements and car integrity before loading/unloading begins.
• Move rail cars in coordination with shuttle wagon operator and ensure proper alignment during coupling/decoupling.
• Prepare cars by removing chocks, connecting air hoses, and checking track and switches for obstacles.
• Follow safety procedures and communicate hazards to the shuttle wagon operator.
• Communicate progress via radio to track mobile operator.
• Assist as back-up shuttle wagon operator during vacations or absences.
• Ensure cleanliness of tracks and report resolutions to weigh master.
