Job summary

Amtrak Beech Grove facility is seeking a skilled technician responsible for inspection, testing and maintenance of wheelsets, brakes, and other rolling stock systems in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards. The role includes troubleshooting, repairing doors and interior components, using test equipment, and possibly welding.

Candidates should read drawings, handle mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanical equipment and systems.
Must complete training and attain certifications applicable to the job.
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
Knowledge and skill in the use of electronic tools and measurements.
Some computer skills.
Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

Performs inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with regulations and standards.
Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of failures.
Repairs doors, windows, interior equipment, and other car components.
Uses a variety of test equipment to diagnose malfunctions and repair components.
Makes proper use of materials, test equipment, and hand tools.
May perform welding and burning.
