Job summary

Targa Resources in Mont Belvieu, TX seeks a Railcar Inspector with focus on safety and compliance to inspect and prep railcars for loading/unloading. You will coordinate with Rail Scheduler and Yard staff to ensure accurate inventory and movement.

Responsibilities include inspecting per railcar sheets, identifying repair work, securing devices, and using PPE per EHS policies. Excellent communication and basic computer skills required; overtime may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• 0-1 year of experience or knowledge.
• Familiarity with regulations (DOT, OSHA) preferred.
• Must be able to report volumes and verify loading.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Proficient with Outlook; Excel experience encouraged.
• Ability to communicate at shift change with Terminal Operators and Lab.

Responsibilities

• Complete inspections per railcar inspection sheet.
• Identify repairs that can be performed by Road & Rail Services.
• Remove and store securement devices properly.
• Secure vehicle for railcar movement.
• Conduct railcar inventory.
• Position rail cars as directed by Rail Scheduler and Rail Supervisor.
• Load/unload railcars at racks and switch to staging yard.
• Prepare railcars for unloading or loading.
• Secure railcar for movement after loading/unloading.
• Learn Targa’s procedures and processes.
• Wear PPE as required by safety policies and rail procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
