Job summary

Universal Logistics seeks an outdoor, full-time yard worker to direct crane operators and prepare railcars for loading and unloading of containers. You will operate in a rail yard environment, guiding the crane and ensuring secure handling of cargo under various shifts.

The role requires standing outdoors in all weather, meeting age and license requirements, and passing background/drug checks. This position offers growth opportunities and ongoing benefits with weekly pay and PTO after probation.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Open availability to work: day, swing, night, weekends and holidays.
• Must pass pre-employment checks including background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Prepares rail cars for the correct size of the trailer/containers to be loaded.
• Guides/directs the crane operator in unloading/loading cargo containers; installs IBC locks and climbs on rail cars to remove/install locks.
• Sets the derailer.
• Spots inbound chassis for containers.
• Parks inbound trailers/containers and stages outbound trailers/containers for loading.
• Clears bare chassis away from the tracks.
