Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator to support solid waste and recycling operations in New Jersey. You will operate forklifts, telehandlers, and skid steers, and collaborate with drivers and dispatch while following safety policies and procedures.

Applicants must be 18+, have at least 2 years of equipment operator experience, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather. OSHA PPE rules must be followed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Equipment Operator.
• Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• 18+ years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Work outdoors and adapt to variable weather, chemicals, dust, fumes and noise.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as Fork lift (Telehandler), Skid Steer and other small machinery.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, employees, and management via radios/CBs.
• Routinely set up and inspect equipment prior to operation.
• Be aware of machine capabilities and limitations.
• Observe signals and markings when operating to ensure safety compliance.
• Move materials around railyard and maintain efficient flow to reduce congestion.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required PPE.
