Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to coordinate train crews, lineup rail cars for loading/unloading, and makeup/breakdown trains in yards or customer facilities. New hires may receive biweekly earnings with bonuses; a comprehensive training program is provided in Atlanta with housing and meal allowances.

Candidates must pass drug, medical and background checks; relocation is within 50 miles with no relocation assistance offered.

Qualifications

• Must read and understand instructions, bulletins, regulatory documents and other communications.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad and safety rules, FRA regulations, signals and train orders.
• Read and understand bulletins, work orders and switch lists; communicate via radio/telephone.
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures; operate switches; assist with couplings/uncouplings.
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars and provide strong customer service.
