Job summary

Utah Transit Authority is seeking an Electromechanics Helper/Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance inspections and service rail vehicles. You will remove and replace mechanical and electrical components, use hand and power tools, and assist senior staff with overhauls, testing and troubleshooting in the yard or shop.

You will also train peers, verify competencies, and contribute to safety through adherence to DOT and rail certifications.

Qualifications

2 years of verifiable related work experience and/or 1 year technical school.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to pass the Electromechanic Helper test.
Able to pass LRV operation exam for safe yard/shop operations.
Proficient with basic computer systems (Outlook).
Certified to operate forklift, crane, and shop equipment.
Willing to obtain other rail certifications as required.
Able to acquire and maintain DOT Medical card.
Valid Utah driver's license.
Safe driving record with ≤4 moving violations in 3 years; ≤1 DUI in 10 years.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance inspections and remove/replace mechanical and electrical components on rail vehicles.
Use hand and power tools as directed; assist Electromechanics and other skilled staff in overhauls, repairs, testing, and troubleshooting.
Assist as SME with training and competence verification of peers and lesser skilled employees.
