Your impact
Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Rail & Transit Vehicles/Systems team in Portland, OR. This internship is expected to last at least six months, with full‑time hours during Summer and Fall 2027. It offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting active rail transit procurements and systems engineering programs across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
You will work alongside experienced project managers and engineers providing technical consulting services to public transit agencies on complex rolling stock procurements, signaling and control systems, and fleet engineering programs. You will work on our current portfolio which includes light rail vehicle (LRV) procurement oversight and urban rail signaling programs— giving you real exposure to the full lifecycle of major transit capital programs.
This is not a passive internship. You will contribute to meaningful project deliverables, support technical reviews, draft and edit specification documents, and help the team manage large volumes of engineering data and contract information. The base salary range for this position is $50,800.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
