Job summary

Clean Harbors located in La Porte, TX is seeking a Rail & Vac Technician to join their team. The Rail & Vac Technician will be responsible for hooking up pumps and hoses in two areas, including the rail yard and vac water area.

The job runs a 6:30am-3:00pm shift with an hourly pay of $20, and ~45 hours per week. Responsibilities include drum pumping/dumping, tank farm operations, and completing waste tracking paperwork.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Rail car, hoses, pumps, PPE and/or tank farm experience is a plus.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
  • Ability to use computer.

Responsibilities

  • Performs drum pumping, drum dumping, tank farm operations, and offloading trucks.
  • Completes and submits paperwork for waste tracking movements; may use scanning app.
  • Handles hoses and pumps in rail yard and vac water area; learns process codes and definitions.
  • Keeps track of tank volume and assists with loading from water tanks onto a tanker as needed.

Job description

Clean Harbors located in La Porte, TX is seeking a Rail & Vac Technician to join their team. The Rail & Vac Technician will be responsible for hooking up pumps and hoses in two areas. One area is our rail yard where we transfer dirty solvent, clean solvent, and used motor oil into and out of rail cars. Other area will be our vac water area and there the employee will grab representative samples from an SK vac truck to determine acceptance. They will then use hoses and pumps to decant the mix pit into tanks.

Shift: 1st shift position (6:30am-3:00pm), this is a rough end time as all work has to be completed prior to shift ending for the day.
Pay: $20/HR
Special Note: Around 45 hours a week is pretty standard for this role

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Performs daily tasks of drum pumping, drum dumping, tank farm operations, and offloading trucks;
  • Completes and submits all associated paperwork as required for waste tracking movements, able to use scanning application.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management.
  • Role will be general to skilled labor in hooking up pumps and hoses in two areas. One area is our rail yard where we transfer dirty solvent, clean solvent, and used motor oil into and out of rail cars. General labor will be physically moving hoses and climbing ladders onto rail cars. Skilled labor will be learning pumps, directional flow, and becoming knowledgeable on rail cars.
  • Second area will be our vac water area. There the person will grab representative samples from an SK vac truck to determine acceptance (will be trained on our process codes and definitions). They will then use hoses and pumps to decant the mix pit into tanks. General labor will be moving hoses. Skilled labor will be keeping track of tank volume, learning pumps, and loading from our water tanks onto a 7,500 gallon tanker for over the road movement.
  • Position will also flex to other areas in any potential down time. This could include helping shredder area with lining roll offs or learning to drive the roll off truck. This could also include using our facility backhoe to fill in holes on the roadway leading to rail yard.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent required;
  • Rail car, hoses, pumps, wearing PPE and/or tank farm experience is a plus;
  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Fork lift experience preferred (Not Required);
  • Ability to use computer;
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
