Job summary

Burns Engineering, Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Specialist to join the Railroad & Transit team in Pittsburgh, PA or Philadelphia, PA.

You will design and implement software solutions for rail and public transit applications, including simulators, data collection automation, and report generation from custom databases. Under supervision, you will develop automated tools, set up virtual environments, and support testing and on-site inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in electrical, computer or software engineering or computer science from an accredited program.
• 2–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience/education focus in software for automation, scripting or laboratory simulators.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated tools for automated testing and reporting.
• Create and generate files/reports from a custom database environment.
• Parse data and generate reports from data files.
• Develop simulators and stimulators in a lab environment per design specs.
• Set up and maintain virtual machines in a lab.
• Assist senior staff in engineering/design analyses and site testing.
