Job summary

RailWorks, a leading rail maintenance and infrastructure solutions provider, seeks an Estimator to support bids and buy-out processes for railroad projects. You will analyze plans, cost, and labor, solicit subcontractor pricing, and prepare multimillion-dollar bids for client submissions.

The role requires 3+ years in construction estimating, a engineering degree, and strong plan-reading skills. Proficiency with Hard Dollar/InEight and Bluebeam is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction estimating experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field.
• Strong ability to read plans and interpret contracts.

Responsibilities

• Analyses blueprints and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Reads and interprets contract documents for assigned divisions.
• Solicits subcontractor pricing information.
• Evaluates bids from subcontractors for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepares quantity surveys and take-offs.
• Reviews estimate/sub quote files for bid information.
• Reviews and compares KPI for bid preparation.
• Prepares spreadsheets and coordinates with estimating staff for bid day.
• Submits multimillion-dollar bids to clients for company services.
• Prepares cost estimates and schedules.
• Prioritizes issues and prepares reports for senior management and clients.
• Logs bid documentation after bid day.
• Reviews contracts post-award to ensure alignment with bid documents.
• Schedules hand-off meeting with management to review budget and bid plan.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam or equivalent takeoff software.
