We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Rail & Transit Assistant Resident Engineer to join our San Francisco, CA office.

We are seeking a highly motivated resident engineer who will support Construction Management, Scheduling and Procurement for Track and Structures Projects for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART).

The projects consist of critical upgrades to existing structures to address damage from water intrusion, corrosion, and wear from normal use, and the overall goal of achieving a state of good repair. This work will be performed by a combination of in-house forces and contractors.

The ARE may be required to work the 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM shift, or weekends and holidays, as needed.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Assist with coordinating internal resources and third parties/contractors for the delivery of projects.

  • Assist with developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Coordinate resource availability and allocation.

  • Assist with the development of a detailed project plan to track progress.

  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and cost.

  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.

  • Report and escalate to management, as needed, any issues that may impact cost or the progress of work.

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.

  • Develop Site Specific Work Plans (SSWPs), Global Site-Specific Work Plans (GSSWPs), and Interim Operating Procedures (IOPs).

  • Assist with creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.

  • Assist with construction management activities by participating in and conducting planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling, and field staff meetings.

  • Ensure all operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, ordered, and satisfactorily completed and documented.

  • Monitor and coordinate safety and quality control on projects by ensuring project is constructed in accordance with applicable safety regulations, report safety, traffic hazards, and defective work to the contractor for correction and preparing and issuing appropriate reports for compliance documentation.

  • Additional scope as requested by BART.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field and ten (10) years of related experience, including personnel supervision.

  • With Associate's degree, eighteen years of related experience.

  • Without a degree, twenty years of related experience is required.

  • P.E. is preferred.

  • Mid to high-level operational experience in above scope of work.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, working with others in team setting and communicating directly with the task manager and other staff.

  • Ability to physically perform site visits along the project site during non-revenue hours, including walking along uneven surfaces during all weather conditions.

Expected compensation range is between $80.00 - $85.00 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
