Job summary

Alaska Railroad Corporation seeks a capable entry-level helper to provide support to the Fairbanks terminal and Mechanical personnel. You will drive tracks, shuttle crews, and assist with yard operations along the rail belt on a 24/7 schedule.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with clean record, and basic data entry skills. You will work under supervision in a dynamic environment with physical duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds and vehicle

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to read and write numbers accurately.
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate an ARRC vehicle.
Must have basic computer data entry skills.

Responsibilities

Drives the tracks and writes down car numbers to ensure accurate train lists are created for train crews.
Drives crews to and from trains at various locations along the rail belt and in the yard as needed.
Enters payment information into JD Edwards and creates Blanket Purchase Orders (BPOs) at Mechanical Department’s direction.
Expedites parts and supplies in Fairbanks for the Mechanical Department.
Performs terminal vehicle support, including fueling vehicles and vehicle inspections.
Performs some laborer duties.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
