Job summary

Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking a Rail Systems Manager in Los Angeles, CA, to lead the integration and commissioning of rail systems for the Foothill Gold Line project.

The role requires coordinating with design teams, clients, and subcontractors to deliver a fully integrated system on schedule. The position demands extensive experience in electrification, signaling, and communications, along with strong knowledge of contract documents, SIT/SAT processes, and project documentation control.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide technical and construction leadership across Electrification (OCS/TPSS), Signal/Train Control, and Communications.
• Experience managing light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, or other major transit systems construction projects.
• Strong understanding of rail construction sequencing, systems integration, and civil-to-systems interfaces.
• Experience with complex construction schedules, track access, outages, and work-zone coordination.
• Experience with SAT, SIT, commissioning, and systems acceptance processes.
• Strong understanding of construction contract documents, plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change management, and project documentation.

Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Rail Systems Manager in Los Angeles, CA to join our team.

The pay range for this position is $230,000.00 - $286,000.00 annually. The pay range for this position is for the project assignment at the Foothill Gold Line Project.

Duties and Responsibilities

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

• Oversee the execution, installation, integration, and commissioning of rail systems, including OCS, TPSS, Train Control, and Communications.


• Develop a complete understanding of contract plans, specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.


• Work closely with the design team, project leadership, Client, contractors, and subcontractors to develop timely and practical solutions.


• Coordinate systems construction activities with civil, trackwork, structures, stations, and other project disciplines.


• Develop and Manage Systems Integration Testing (SIT), Commissioning, Project turnover


• Manage submittal tracking, project logs, correspondence, and required project documentation.


• Review project documentation and technical submissions for compliance with contract requirements.


• Maintain Systems project schedule, ensure systems activities are properly sequenced with civil and track construction to prevent staging conflicts.


• Support project leadership with the development of scopes of work for subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.


• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.


• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Bachelor’s degree in: Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of experience in Managing Transit Construction projects is preferred.

• Ability to provide technical and construction leadership across Electrification (OCS/TPSS), Signal/Train Control, and Communications Networks, ensuring that systems contractors and civil construction teams work in close coordination to deliver a safe, reliable, and fully integrated project.

• Experience managing light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, or other major transit systems construction projects.


• Strong understanding of rail construction sequencing, systems integration, and civil-to-systems interfaces.


• Experience managing complex construction schedules, track access, outages, and work-zone coordination.


• Experience with SAT, SIT, commissioning, and systems acceptance processes.


• Strong understanding of construction contract documents, plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change management, and project documentation.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.


• Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.


• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
