Job summary

Railserve, part of Marmon Holdings, is hiring dependable Rail Switching Technicians in La Porte, TX to support daily rail operations at an industrial facility. This full-time, outdoor, hands-on role keeps railcars moving safely and efficiently and includes training for newcomers.

You will inspect locomotives, operate controls under supervision, assist with switching, and follow safety procedures while using PPE.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to pass a physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Dependable with reliable daily transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect locomotives before operation to verify fuel, sand, water, and supplies.
  • Operate locomotive controls such as throttle and air brakes under supervision.
  • Assist with switching, placement, and movement of railcars.
  • Operate switches, derails, gates, and trackside equipment.
  • Control movement of equipment using radio, hand signals, and lanterns.
  • Couple and uncouple railcars and manage air hoses and wheel chocks.
  • Apply and release hand brakes to secure equipment.
  • Monitor track conditions and report hazards or obstructions.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Prepare reports related to delays, incidents, or operational issues.
