Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway (W&LE) in Brewster, Ohio is seeking a Manager of Train Operations to lead safe, efficient railroad transportation. This full-time, exempt role oversees the Operations Center, manages train plan execution, line-of-road and yard operations, locomotive utilization, and coordination with interchange carriers and customers.

Based in Brewster, the position reports to the Superintendent and provides leadership to Dispatchers, Yardmasters, and other staff.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in railroad transportation or operations center environments.
• Strong knowledge of railroad operating practices, rules, and safety procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership with coaching and accountability.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work with train crews, dispatchers, and maintenance personnel.
• Proficiency with computers and business applications.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with management.
• Ability to work irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor train movements, schedules, and on-time performance.
• Coordinate dispatching activities, including route management and track occupancy.
• Manage disruptions including mechanical issues, signals, weather, and incidents.
• Prioritize rail traffic and determine train sequencing.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate during shift transitions.
• Support regulatory compliance and operating requirements.
• Promote customer service awareness and operational excellence.
• Communicate with multiple departments and field personnel.
