Job summary

Springrecruits is seeking a conductor/engineer to control and coordinate train movements while switching railcars in the yard, plant, or similar location to facilitate unloading and loading of railcars for customers.

The role requires reading and interpreting signals, following FRA regulations, and maintaining safety during operations. A high school diploma or GED, 18+ years of age, and ability to pass training are required.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must pass training and required testing.
• Must have or have had 49CFR242 and/or 49CFR240 qualifications.
• At least 1 year of related experience or equivalent education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate locomotive following signals and railroad rules.
• Inspect locomotive before and after runs.
• Maintain records of cars switched (origin, destination, cargo).
• Coordinate switching with crew via radio or tower.
• Assist with switching operations and signal warnings as needed.
